Officially Lighthouse Certified! 

Mariposa is now a newly designated Lighthouse School!  What does this mean?  Schools achieving Lighthouse Certification shine as examples of a complete Leader in Me process fully implemented to its deepest and most impactful level.  

The first step is what we do here every day: Leader in Me!  It is the process and foundation on which Lighthouse Schools are built.  To be a Lighthouse School, we demonstrate that we have the tools and teaching skills to help students become leaders with a voice and to implement that in their everyday lives.  As a school, we implement Leader in Me and reflect with a Lighthouse Rubric. This rubric gives students, teachers, staff, and administrators a framework to find focus, develop discipline, and strengthen our systems, while also helping us find our school’s own voice within it. 

A review team visited our school to ensure we maintain a high-quality level of implementation and to provide feedback on how to grow. Then once approved, we were given the status, and we are so excited to share with you that we have officially done it! 

We are Lighthouse! This certification is unique and is not just another banner to hang up in our school, but a celebration of the hard work of students, families, and staff building a community of life-ready leaders with a commitment to sustain that excellence in the future.  It doesn’t stop here!

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

At Mariposa Elementary, we are proud to have achieved PBIS Platinum recognition for our outstanding implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a proactive, school-wide approach that creates a safe, welcoming, and supportive learning environment for all students. It teaches and reinforces positive behavior, supports social-emotional learning, and encourages respectful, responsible, and safe choices across campus.

Through clear expectations, consistent positive reinforcement, and data-informed practices, PBIS helps reduce problem behaviors while increasing student engagement and success. Our counseling services work hand in hand with PBIS by providing targeted social-emotional instruction, individual and small-group counseling, and early interventions for students who may need additional support.

Together, PBIS and counseling services help students build self-regulation skills, develop positive relationships, and strengthen overall well-being—ensuring every Mariposa student feels supported both behaviorally and emotionally.
